Bill was a good friend to me through high school, the college years, and beyond. We drifted apart when we both got busy with work and families but still kept in touch. I always thought we would get together again for some quality time, maybe fishing up north. One of my best memories of Bill was a trip he and I took to the Porcupine Mountains in Michigan's UP. We had a blast trout fishing, catching our supper and cooking the trout up in a pan of butter over a campfire. Another great memory was walking downtown from our homes and back one Saturday night to see a country rock band play at a bar downtown on the avenue. We had made plans to go out and see that band that night and we were not going to let a little snow stop us. It was too dangerous to drive so we walked. I'll miss you Bill and I'm sorry you had to leave us so soon. But you were a strong believer in God and I trust that God has a reason for everything that happens. So even though it doesn't make sense, I too trust that you are in a better place now for a reason we just can't understand right now.

Mary Sue, Dave read in the on-line newspapers from Wisconsin of Bill's passing. I know the upcoming days will not be easy for you and your children. Thank god that Bill was able to see Kristine married and meet his granddaughter, I imagine he was and is one proud grampa, just like I know you are a very proud Grandma. May the love of your family and friends help you through this time of mourning. I miss talking with you Mary Sue, and look forward to future conversations. May god be with you and your family.

Dear Donna and family, I am so sorry to hear about Bill. I remember him fondly from Metso where we worked together on many projects. Bill was always willing to answer questions about the operation of the machines which he programmed – no matter how many times I bugged him! It’s such a hard thing to lose a family member, especially so young and so suddenly. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you. Sincerely, Mary Steichen
