William "Bill" Bero

February 26, 1925 — October 2, 2017

William J. “Bill” Bero, Jr., passed away at Brewster Village, Appleton, on Monday, October 2, 2017. Bill was born on February 26, 1925, in Menominee, Michigan to the late William J. and Florence (Beland) Bero. He married Mary Cahee on November 28, 1946; she preceded him in death on April 14, 1990. He married Elizabeth “Betty” Wohlers on July 26, 1993; she passed away on October 26, 2016.

Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army during World World II. He was an avid fisherman, gardener, bowler, and golfer. Bill was a very generous volunteer and supporter with the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, the Serra Club, his kid’s schools, church and many charitable organizations. He was a proud family man, veteran and Packer fan.

In 1949 Bill graduated from Michigan Tech with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. That same year he joined Industrial Insulation Corporation of WI. In 1973 he purchased the corporation where he became an industry leader and was a past president of MICA.

Survivors include his children, Patricia (Paul Theyel) Bero, Colleen (Curt) Sponberg, William (Patty) Bero III, John (Vicki) Bero, and David Bero; his grandchildren, Hans (Sarah) Sponberg, Brian (Elizabeth Sullivan) Theyel, Hanna (Daniel Keifenheim) Sponberg, Dawn (Kurt) Tyler, Kate (Colin Ross) Bero, Carrie (Matt Evensen) Bero, James (Brianna) Bero, and Daniel Bero; his four great grandchildren; and his brother, Gerald “Jerry” (Alice) Bero. When Bill and Betty Wohlers were united in marriage the family was enlarged with four more children, eight more grand children and seven more great grandchildren. Bill is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Peter Bero and step-daughter, Kathy Rivet.

The Funeral Liturgy for Bill will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 9, 2017, at ST. THOMAS MORE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1810 North McDonald Street, Appleton, with Fr. Gerald Falk officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park. A memorial has been established to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
