Wayne Le Fevre, age 77, passed away at Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton on Wednesday afternoon, June 2, 2010, following a brief illness. He was born on January 2, 1933 in Lena, son of the late Eugene Le Fevre and Verna Le Fevre who still resides in Appleton. For over thirty-five years, Wayne worked in sales for Miller Electric Manufacturing. From 1951 until 1955, he served his country as a member of the United States Navy and was a member of the American Legion Johnston Blessman Post #38 of the American Legion. Following his discharge from the Navy, he married the former Alice Phelan on January 28, 1956 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Kimberly; she survives. Wayne will be remembered by all for his love of playing racquetball and golf. He also volunteered to tutor young students at Appleton's Highland Elementary School.
He is survived by his mother: Verna Le Fevre of Appleton; his wife: Alice Le Fevre of Appleton; four sons: Steve (Elvia) Le Fevre of Springfield, Virginia; Gene (Khamla) Le Fevre of San Diego; Jim Le Fevre of Oak Creek; and Joe (Heather) Le Fevre of Platteville; four grandchildren: Katherine and John Le Fevre; Evan Le Fevre; and Eric Le Fevre; two sisters: Anita (Tom) Werthman of Marshfield and Lynn (Mark) Davis of Keller, Texas; a sister-in-law: Mary Le Fevre of Appleton; three brothers-in-law: Bob (Jeanie) Phelan of Darboy; Bill (Kay) Phelan of Fargo, North Dakota; and John (Barb) Phelan of Kaukauna. Wayne is also survived by his best friend and cribbage partner: Red Schultz of Menasha. He was preceded in death by his son: Stuart Le Fevre in 1988; his brother: Ronald Le Fevre; and his father: Eugene Le Fevre.
The funeral liturgy for Wayne will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 312 S. State Street in Appleton, with Fr. Larry Abler officiating. Inurnment will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the mass.
