Wayne H. Koester

November 20, 1923 — July 1, 2009

Bud Koester, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at the Appleton Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Bud was born in Appleton on November 20, 1923, son of the late Roy and Hazel (Popp) Koester. After high school, he served in the United States Army during World War II, and later held several jobs including Fox Valley Cab and delivering parts for Kramer & Ridge Auto Parts. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, the D.A.V. and Little Chute American Legion Post #258. On April 26, 1979, Bud married the former Beverly Loose Spaulding; she survives. Bud enjoyed bowling, golfing, camping, following the Brewers and the Packers, and ordering gadgets from catalogs. Most of all he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather whose quick wit and joke telling kept everyone on their toes.

He is survived by his wife of thirty years: Beverly Koester of Appleton; three daughters: Kristy (Paul) Sitter of Appleton; Linda (Chuck) Thompson of Menasha; and Lana Wilson of Appleton; a son: Randy Koester of Kimberly and his longtime companion Robin. Beverly also has six children: Jeanne (Marvin) Baeten of Appleton; Joan (Jeff) Gosz of Neenah; Linda (Mike) Gosz of Menasha; Jeffrey (Janet) Spaulding of Fifield; Lori Spaulding of Appleton and her fiancé Kim Chouinard; and Lisa Sack of Hilbert and her fiancé Bob Koehler; a brother-in-law: Jerome (Sandy) Loose of Madison; and two sisters-in-law: Darlene Loose of Bear Creek and Frances (Bruce) Johnson of Germantown, Tennessee. There are twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father Arthur Krause, brothers-in-law: Gary Loose and Al Loose, and Bev's parents: Albert and Adela Loose.

Funeral Services for Bud will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 6, 2009 at CELEBRATION OF FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 601 E. Glendale Avenue in Appleton with Rev. Paul Brinkman officiating. Military honors will take place immediately after the worship service. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church on Monday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.

The family would like to thank everyone at Brewster Village and at the Appleton Medical Center. We will never forget how wonderful you all have been.
