Age 75, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2001 at Manor Care. He was born on January 22, 1926 in Appleton the son of the late Alois and Clara (Hilger) Fischer. He served his country by enlisting in the United States Navy on October 22, 1943 serving in the SeaBees during World War II in the South Pacific. He was honorably discharged on December 31, 1945. He was employed as a union mason in this area for many years.
Wally was an avid hunter in his earlier years and fisherman all of his life, and especially enjoyed fishing in Alaska with his best friend Steve.

He is survived by his twin brother Wilbert J. “Bill” Fischer of Portland, Oregon; his sister-in-law Rita K. Fischer of Appleton; his nephews Wayne (Carol) Fischer of Town of Harrison, Richard (Patricia) Fischer of the town of Clayton, John Fischer of Appleton, Mark (Stephanie) Fischer of Appleton; and his special friend DeAnn. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Alois C. Fischer, Jr., Gilbert Fischer, and Alvin Fischer.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, December 24, 2001 at 11:00 AM at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 West Lawrence Street with the Rev. John Holly officiating. Friend may call at the church on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
