August 4, 1913 — April 22, 2005

Roblee, Wallace True "Wally"
Appleton

Wallace True Roblee, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2005. He was born on August 4, 1913 in Appleton, son of the late Evan True Roblee and Ann Marie (Nehls) Roblee. He and Ruth Ida Forbeck married on August 14, 1938, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Appleton. Wally was employed at the Aid Association for Lutherans (AAL) for 45 years where he was the Director of Data Processing. He was instrumental in introducing the company to the computer world. In addition, he was a member of a team that routinely visited Wisconsin Technical School promoting awareness of data processing.

Wally and Ruth retired to Door County at Thorhaven, their home that he built for his entire family to enjoy, returning to Appleton in 1998. He was an avid golfer and sponsored the Cherry Pit Open in Door County for his friends and co-workers. A good time was had by all. He was also an excellent bowler, with three 300 games to his credit. In 1988, he was proudly inducted into the Appleton Bowling Association’s Hall of Fame. Wally loved singing, especially barbershop harmony, and had been a member of the MacDowell Chorus.

Wally is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Ruth; two daughters, Gail (Robert) Stevenson of Appleton and Patricia Nelson (Thomas Derby) of Appleton; three grandchildren: Erica (Craig) Jensen of Burlington, WI; Erik (Deanna Brooks) Nelson of Hudson, WI; and Michael (Heather) Stevenson of Appleton; six great grandchildren: Christian and Ethan Jensen, Alexandria Brooks and Molly Nelson, and Samantha and Cassandra Stevenson; and several nieces, nephews and many friends. We want to thank
Home Instead and a special thanks to Cheryl Witter, a caring friend to Wally and his family. Wally was proceded in death by three sisters and two brothers-in-law.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 25, 2005, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 302 N. Morrison Street, Appleton, with Rev. John Baumann officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Appleton.

And so, all of us who survive you want to thank you for giving the term, ‚Äúa job well done,‚Äù a new meaning. You have been understanding, fair, generous to a fault, logical, funny, and oh, so loved. Over the years, you have given us a few ‚Äúsuggestions‚Äù—we want you to know we did listen to at least one of them—we will always try to ‚ÄúPay Attention.‚Äù Love from all of us and, ‚ÄúSee you later"!

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one of Wally’s favorite places, St. Paul Lutheran School.
