Vivian was born to Adrian and Hilda Johnson in Oshkosh, WI on July 23, 1926. She was soon joined by her only brother, Lyman. She met and married the love of her life, Donald Walter in 1944. They shared 60 wonderful years together. Vivian was the loving mother of seven children. Mom spent many years raising their family and helping on the farm in Mikesville. She was active in the Mikesville Mother's Club, served as a Pink Lady volunteer at Theda Clark and volunteered on many school activities. Mom loved to entertain and cook. She decorated many beautiful cakes for birthdays, weddings and other occasions. She was at her best and happiest when she was preparing food for a party or family gathering. Vivian was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Winchester.
After mom and dad retired from the farm, they lived in New London and then Neenah, prior to moving into retirement facilities.
Vivian is survived by her two daughters; Sherry (Don) Jones, Melba, ID., Patti Walter, Denver, CO. , three sons; Peter (Bonita) of Larsen, Donnie (Dianna) of Fremont, Gene (Dawn) of Larsen; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, numerous step-great grandchildren and step great-great grandchildren. She is further survived by brother, Lyman (Betty), North Port, FL., sisters-in law, Carol Luebke of Mikesville, Jean (Loyal) Maronn, Omro, WI, brother-in-law Neal Walter, Mikesville, and many nieces and nephews.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, Hilda and Adrian Johnson, her husband, Don and two sons, Randy and Paul.
A heartfelt thank you to all who have visited and helped mom over the past few years as her health was failing. Our gratitude to all the staff at Living Tree Estates in Greenville for their loving care of mom over the past 2 years and to Oak Ridge Gardens staff for their care in her final days.
At her request, cremation has taken place and a celebration of Vivian's life will be held at the Henrietta Apartments, 5300 Ann St, Winchester, WI in the gathering room-lower level. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 8, 2013, from 2:00 PM until 4:00PM with a prayer service at 2:45PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Ruth's Pantry in care of Grace Lutheran Church of Winchester, 8396 Steeple Hill Dr., Larsen.
