Virginia R. Grebe

August 19, 1920 — June 30, 2012

Ginnie Grebe, age 91, passed into the loving arms of her Savior on Saturday evening, June 30, 2012. Ginnie was born in Kaukauna on August 19, 1920, one of nine children born to Edward and Lydia (Brenner) Grebe. Her parents operated the Brenner & Grebe Wood and Coal Yard in town. Ginnie never married, choosing instead to stay at home and care for her mother and help to pay off the family home. She will also be remembered for her forty-three year career at Thilmany Pulp and Paper. Ginnie loved fishing and listening to a good joke, then passing it on to others. She had a wonderful sense of humor. She also loved to play cards, and was appreciative of the two special gentlemen who came to St. Paul Home each week to play sheepshead with her – it was the highlight of her week. She was also an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers. Ginnie was also a deeply religious woman, and was a lifelong and faithful member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Kaukauna.

Ginnie is survived by one brother: Edgar (Ruth) Grebe of Kaukauna as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings: Eva (Ted) Boettcher, Ada (Fritz) Olm, Ena (Howard) Zuelzke, Elmer (Charlotte) Grebe, Donald (Delia) Grebe, Luther (Helen) Grebe, and Gert (Norbert) Gerend; as well as her lifelong best friend Marie “Gresh” Wenzel and her husband Donald.

The Christian Funeral for Ginnie will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at TRINITY EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 804 Grignon Street in Kaukauna, with Rev. Timothy Wilkens officiating. Inurnment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the memorial service. Memorials may be directed to the Organ Fund at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be expressed at www.wichmannfargo.com.

The family would like to thank everyone at St. Paul Elder Services for the wonderful care that Ginnie received. Special thanks to her hospice angels Ellen, Julie, Tina, and Karen. We will never forget your kindness.

Ginnie had a wonderful view of death. Knowing that better things await a Christian, she always wanted to die with a fork in her hand. Like a dinner guest who keeps her fork for dessert, Ginnie knew that the best is yet to come – eternal life with Jesus. Enjoy your dessert, Aunt Ginnie.
