Viona Klemp passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Saturday morning, May 30, 2009. Viona was 93. She was born in Clintonville, on Oct. 31, 1915, daughter of the late William and Helen (Hoffman) Neitzke. Viona married Irvin Klemp and they shared many happy and blessed years together until his death in 1988. The family lived in the Clintonville area until 1965, when they relocated to Kimberly, and Viona later began work in the Finance Department for the City of Appleton. She worked there until her retirement in the early 1990s.
She enjoyed reading, playing golf and cooking. Viona was also a longtime and faithful member of Mount Calvary Ev. Lutheran Church and the Kimberly Golden Agers. For the past six years, Viona had been a resident at St. Paul Villa in Kaukauna.
She is survived by three children, Donald (Janice) Klemp, Appleton; James Klemp and his special friend, Annamarie, Plymouth, Minn.; and Jean (James) Harke, Kimberly; ten grandchildren, Linda (Brian) Greisbach, Alice (Ian) Morrison, Michael (Amy) Klemp, Jonathan (Mandi) Klemp, Brenda (Jerry) Southwick, Kathryn (Ed) Koch, Jennifer (Joe) LaCount, Sara (Todd) Johnson, Sheree (Don) Garvey and Brian (Jenny) Harke; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ervin (Marina) Neitzke, Redgranite; and a sister, Irene (Walter) Yunk, Townsend.
Viona was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Irvin in 1988; a granddaughter, Amy Dion; and sisters, Selma Neitzke and Verna (William) Stern.
The Christian Funeral for Viona will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at ST. LUKE EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 705 Greenfield Drive in Little Chute, with the Rev. Virgil Hanson officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call directly at the church on Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. until the hour of the worship service at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Mount Calvary Ev. Lutheran Church or to St. Paul Elder Services' Hospice Program.
