Viola M. Butch

Viola Butch, age 95, of Appleton, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Brewster Village. She was born on January 30, 1920 in St. Ignace, Michigan, to the late Peter and Eleanor (Tamlyn) McIntyre. Her family moved to Gladstone, Michigan where she worked in a factory during the war, and where she met Amel. On June 7, 1947, Viola married Amel Butch in Gladstone, Michigan. They moved to Appleton and were blessed with 43 years of marriage. Viola was employed with the Appleton Public School System, and following retirement was a lunch monitor and playground director at Huntley School. She enjoyed camping, and loved cooking, her home was always open to family and friends. Her family meant the world to her, and she enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Viola had a great work ethic, and instilled that in her family and others. She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church.

Viola is survived by her sons, Bruce (Faith) Butch and Peter (Nancy) Butch; grandchildren, Melissa (Tyler) Blob and Matthew (Krista) Butch; Brian (Megan) Butch and Laura Butch; great grandchildren, Brendan, Brooklyn, and Bennett Blob; Ella, Aiden, Ethan, and Jackson Butch. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Viola was preceded in death by her husband Amel, her twin sister Violet (Roy “Bud”) Reimer, two brothers Norman (Gloria, Pudge) McIntyre and Frank (Dorothy) McIntyre.

The funeral service for Viola will be held at 6:00 pm on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN CHAPEL with Rev. David Farina officiating. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Appleton. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 pm until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
