Eric (Rick) Derscheid left a message on July 26, 2010:
Please accept my condolences on Mr. Gerht's passing. He was my 5th grade teacher at Lincoln Elementary in 1960-61, and he went out of his way to welcome me as a new student at Lincoln. He made sure that I got to meet each of my new classmates one at a time, so we all could start the year as friends. I enjoyed learning from Mr. Gehrt; even as a now-60-year-old man, I still refer to him as "Mr." out of the respect I have for him. He was a good man and a good teacher. Again, my sincere condolences. Frank Rippl left a message on July 24, 2010:
I'm so sorry that I didn't see Vaughn's obituary until tonight. He was a wonderful man. I taught with him for many years at Lincoln, and learned a great deal from him. He was always very kind to me giving me and the music students all sorts of things he had collected over the years. He loved his church, too, and always supported musical things there. I shall miss him very much. Please accept my condolences and my love. Sincerely, Frank Rippl
