VAN GROLL, VALERIA LYDIA SIEBER LOESSEL
Valeria S. Van Groll, age 98, of Spring Hill, Florida, formerly of Appleton, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at The Palms Assisted Living. She was born on December 13, 1912 in Tilleda, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late John and Christina (Buss) Sieber. On July 28, 1937, she married John Loessel who preceded her in death on December 25, 1949. Val married John Van Groll on October 8, 1957.
Val was a wonderful wife and mother with a superb talent for cooking and entertaining, including flower arranging. She made arrangements for the St. Elizabeth Gift Shop for many, many years. Her early employment included being a caterer for the president of Lawrence University. Val was also a charter member of St. Bernard Parish.
Valeria is survived by her children: John (Mary) Van Groll, Appleton; Gary Van Groll, Appleton; Joseph (Vickie) Loessel, Spring Hill, Florida and JoAnn (Don) Schroeder, Wabeno; grandchildren: John R. Van Groll, Appleton; Paul Van Groll, Appleton; Camille Van Groll, Reedsville; Valerie (Jim) Winter, Appleton; Michael Van Groll, New London; Brian (Adena) Van Groll, Appleton; Todd (Kristin) Loessel, Neenah; Sarah (Ben) Cleveland, Appleton; Christine (Brian) Clearwater, Lake Villa, Illinois and Cindy Schroeder, Manitowoc; eleven great grandchildren; sisters: Joraine Groat, Chicago, Illinois; Merle Coley, Germantown and Marcella (Lawrence) Bohman, Brillion.
She was preceded in death by her husbands: John Loessel and John D. Van Groll; her son: Michael Van Groll; brothers: Norman, Kermit, Glendon and Ronell Sieber and sisters: Dezma Kuschel, Dolores Skarweski and Elaine Brahan.
The funeral liturgy for Valeria will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1617 W. Pine Street, Appleton. Fr. Dennis Ryan will be officiating. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. The visitation will be held from 9:30 am until the time of mass.
