Dear Greg, We are still stunned over the loss of Toni. The love you two shared was truly special - an example for all of us. We will always cherish the good times we had with you and Toni and smile. She showed so much courage and strength these past few years as she struggled with her illness and through it all never lost her sense of humor. Such a joy to be around! We will miss her so much.

Kay (Toni & Greg's daughter) left a message on April 6, 2009:
Thank-you to all who came to my mom's showing and/or funeral over the last two days. It means a lot to my dad, more than you can know. As we were walking out of the church service today, he turned to me and said turn around and look at all these people. Your mom would be so proud. I told him that she wouldn't be able to believe it and she would say in her questioning, surprised way...these people are all here because of me??? Know too that is how she felt about all her cards that she received. She couldn't believe so many people cared about her. She loved her cards so very much! Thank you, thank you for sending them! My dad wanted to display all of them, so that when you looked at them, you maybe could pick out the one you sent her and it would make you feel good. I do know too that many people made phone calls & visited her and my dad, and that many people were praying for her and us, her family. Thank-you so much for thinking of us in our time of need. My mom would tell me constantly how proud of me she was...I wrote on my balloon today that I released at the cemetary that I was so very proud of HER. With love, Kay (Greg & Toni's daughter)

All of you have been in my prayers often throughout this last year. Life is fragile, but God's hands are big and strong. His love for each of us knows no limits. When he gave up his son on the cross, he did so for Toni and everyone else. When life appears especially fragile, God seems closer, and we learn to trust in him and his love. Blessings come in painful times. May the peace that knowing Jesus gives us, be with all of you. In His love, Gail Potratz

Praise God that Toni is in heaven with her Lord and Savior. She will no longer have tears and physical struggle in heaven because heaven is a wonderful place filled with a perfect paradise. Remember the word's of Jesus... "I am the resurrection and the life he who believes in me will live even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die." John 11:25-26 At the end of the world you will be reunited with your mom because of our Savior Jesus who lived, died, and rose for all our sins. Cling to this hope and promise of Jesus' words in John 11:25-26.

Dear Greg and Family--It was truely an honor to care for Toni and her family during her stay at UW after her transplant. She was an inspiration for all, there never was a complaint from her mouth or yours! Even during the many stays and long days. You guys are a reminder of how love should look! When I went home the night she died I told my boyfriend that the world lost a great woman tonight, and it's true she was and you guys are, awesome. Thanks for letting us look into your lives to remind us of why we do this and how life should be lived! Thanks so much and I am deeply sorry for your loss. Heather Lindner, RN

The love within your family is palpable. I treasure the times that I was able to care for all of you at UW hospital; although the time became much more about Toni making an impact on me, than my providing care for her. She was an amazing woman and still an incredible spirit that will live on in all of us here on B4/5. I am so sorry for your loss. May God bless you and comfort you during this time. Molly O'Grady RN

It may be sad knowing she won't be here walking with us any more, but she touched our lives and left imprints that will remain in our hearts... She was a great woman and even though she wasn't my grandmother she treated me as a granddaughter, she will be missed. I was looking up quotes one day and found this one... It is a quote that opened my eyes a bit... Keep it in your heart when you think of her... “You can shed tears that she is gone, or you can smile because she has lived. You can close your eyes and pray that she’ll come back, or you can open your eyes and see all she’s left. Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her, or you can be full of the love you shared. You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday, or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember her only that she is gone, or you can cherish her memory and let it live on. You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back. Or you can do what she’d want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on” -David Harkins Love you all, Natasha

Dear Greg and Family- It was an honor to be able to spend time with Toni during her final hours with us. It was a pleasure to help Toni look beautiful as she began her journy to heaven. Although Toni did not need help looking beautiful, because she was beautiful already. I was lucky enough to have spent many days and nights with Toni during her year with her "little bag of gold." Not once did I hear a complaint. She was truely greatful for everything.During her stays with us she stopped being "my patient" and became my friend. I will miss the suprise visits, her smile and warm hugs.
