Thomas J. "Tom" Sloane

July 31, 1952 — December 9, 2014

Thomas Sloane, age 62, of Appleton, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 31, 1952, in West Allis, to the late Edwin and Patricia (Mulhern) Sloane. On July 16, 1977, Tom married Christine Kuepper in Appleton. He had recently retired from R.R. Donnelley Graphic Center and was looking forward to more time with his wife, family, and his “Papa” time together with his precious grandchildren. Tom loved restful stays at the cottage, his “Up Nort” time, pig roastin' with family and friends, annual canoe trips, and deer camp adventures and camaraderie.

Tom enjoyed the outdoors; working with his hands, wood splitting, campfires, construction, and representing his Graphic Union Local #77-P. He looked forward to Timber Rattler games, and going to watch the Packers. He loved his time with his furry BFF Rocky – his crazy antics and insistent ball play.

Tom is survived by his wife Christine Sloane; sons: Matthew (Nicole) of Little Chute and Daniel (Colleen) of Kaukauna; four grandchildren: Makayla, Riley, Alivia, and Hunter; siblings: Michael (Ann) Sloane, Kristin (Ernie) Sloane, Mary (Tom) Buelow, Beth (Dave Thompson) Sloane, Jim (Mary) Sloane, and Laurie (Mike) Moser; mother-in-law Barbara Kuepper; and sister-in-law Carol (Tom) Wokosin. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Tom was preceded in death by his father-in-law Richard “Skip” Kuepper.

Family and friends are invited to share in the celebration and service of Tom's life being held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 12, 2014, at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME TRI-COUNTY CHAPEL, 1592 Oneida Street, Menasha. Rev. Tim Krick will be officiating. A time of visitation will take place from 9:30 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be given to Broach Foundation for Brain Cancer Research in memory of his campfire friend Dano. Online condolences can be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Appleton Medical Center – ICU, for their compassionate care of Tom and his family in their time of need. Also, to the many neighbors for their expressed care and concerns.
