Age 70, formerly of Appleton, passed away after a short illness in Florida on Friday, March 20, 2009. He was born in Stockbridge on May 27, 1938, the son of the late Perry and Mary (O'Donnell) Comerford. On July 14, 1962 he married Vera Neitzer at St. Mary Catholic Church, Stockbridge. Tom retired from the Post Crescent in 2000 after forty years. He spent as much as possible at his summer home on Lake Winnebago where he enjoyed the sunsets. He loved to fish for sturgeon, perch and walleye with his family at Mud Creek. In the winter months, he spent his time in Naples, FL where he loved to golf, and spend time with his friends. Tom was the Green Bay Packers #1 fan. Throughout his life he went out of his way to put a smile on other people's faces and this was his greatest gift.

Tom is survived by his wife of 46 years, Vera: daughter, Kelly (Peter) Halverson of Atlanta, GA; son, Patrick (Kristin Tomczyk) Comerford of Appleton; grandchildren: Paige, Regan and Jack Halverson, and Quinn Thomas Comerford; brothers: John (Donna) Comerford and Gordon (Alice) Comerford; and sisters: Kathleen (Russ) Samec and Jane (Mike) Belongie. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends. Tom was preceded in death by his infant brother, Gene.

The funeral liturgy will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at ST. MARY CATHLIC CHURCH, Stockbridge, with Fr. Joe Coerber officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the liturgy. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Stockbridge.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Tom's name is being established to be donated to charities of the family's choice.

To fall in love with God is the greatest of all loves. To find him is the greatest human achievement. To seek him is the greatest adventure.
