Dear Family of Fr Tom - Fr Tom was a most gentle, kind and happy man while he served Holy Family Parish of South Range, MI. I had the privilege of working with him on a parish presentation and learning of his devote passion for his work and serving our Lord. It was an honor for me that I will always cherish in my own faith life. His call is greater than we will ever know. May he rest in peace.
To Fr. Tom's family.. Our whole family absolutely loved Fr. Tom., He lived in a trailer in Ahmeek, in our little town, and was friends with everyone. He ministered in our church ,Our Lady of Peace for awhile. He always kept in touch, and in fact, when I sent a message to him about my husband's passing, even when he was so ill, Frl Tom sent a note back, which I received a couple days before he passed. We all have been blessed to know and love him.. Our condolences to the family. Be Happy, the angels are singing!!
I met Father Tom when he would come to St. Anthony's in Gwinn, MI when our Pastor was gone. He was kind, humble, and down to earth. He made you feel that God loved you. It was through him that I became an Extraordinary Minister. Father Tom was truly special. I am so sorry for your loss and know you will miss him, but believed he is with God.
Peace of mind is a call away. We're here when you need us most.
Fr Tom will be missed. He was such a comfort to both my Mom and Dad, when he lived in Ahmeek. He came over for Christmas Eve a few times, and we so enjoyed his company. He also stopped over here in Oconomowoc and we had such a good visit. Such a good man. Heaven is lucky.

My sympathy at this time of loss. A pleasure meeting and visiting with Fr. Tom Schmied last year while in the area (MI) for the beatification of Solanus Casey. And once again pleasantly spending time during the Centennial celebration at St. Anthony's Spirituality Center - Marathon WI just a few months ago with Fr. Tom much improved and driving up for a few days. Such a honor to have known him. Peace and all good.
Sending our thoughts and blessings to you. Mom always enjoyed visiting with you and Fr. Tom when you stopped by Sun Prairie. We all enjoy reading your letters that keep us updated on your lives. Fr. Tom will be greatly missed.
I first met Fr. Tom in 1990 when he was "interim" Pastor after Fr. Mercier died from Resurrection Parish in Hancock where I was the secretary. He was on of the most compassionate priest and such a special person. I'll miss his birthday cards and cards he sent on the anniversary of my daughter's death. I don't know how he remembered all those dates. I know he sent many cards to many different people for many occasions.
Our sympathy to the family. Tom would always stop and stay for dinner and overnight when he was in Milwaukee. We busted him often in The UP. We will truly miss him.
Our sympathy at your time of loss. Brother was such a warm and humble man. He will be missed by all. We wish him eternal rest. Blessings Holy Redeemer Ladies Auxillary.
So sorry for your families loss! I remember Fr. Tom well - he was a wonderful priest at St. Mary's Parish in Marathon, WI when I was in elementary/middle school. He related well to the kids and had a calming presence. We were blessed to have him at our school and church! Prayers to you all!
My blessings and condolences at the death of my brother priest, Fr Tom. We were seminary classmates. Loved his personality and goodness. I will offer Mass for his intention on Tuesday. Blessings!
Our prayers and condolences to all Brother Tom's family. Brother Tom was an exceptional priest as he was so warm and loving and down to earth. I remember cleaning the pews at Holy Redeemer Parish was Brother Tom. I became a catholic as well under Brother Tom. We had some laughs together over some of the catholic rituals. We're happy for Brother Tom that he is at peace now and has no more pain.
I'm very sad to see this. I always loved when Fr. Tom filled in at Copper Country churches. He always exuded goodness. My condolences to his family and eternal rest to him.
God's humble servant and our dear friend. Father Tom's visits were always unexpected, always enjoyable, always filled with blessings that lingered long after he was gone -eager to press on with one more truckload of supplies for the needy, one more mission of love to share. Those blessings will continue to linger in our hearts.
Prayers for Fr. Tom and his family. Lots of good memories of Fr. Tom and his service at St. Anne's in Chassell, MI.
To Sandra and Dan. My deepest sympathy on behalf or myself, husband, Craig, and son, Bro. Thomas Gierke on the death of your brother. Your brother served at our church, St. Thomas the Apostle in Escanaba, MI, on many occasions. Our son served as and Altar Server with Fr. Tom many times, and even at a Funeral Mass with him at Holy Spirit Church in Menominee. A dear friend from Menominee had passed away and Fr. Tom was filling in for Fr. Pat Wisneske at that time. Fr. Tom would stop and see us on his way through Escanaba. We were gone the last time he stopped, about two months ago, and he left a note on our door saying he had come by. He was a very caring, humble man. May he rest in peace.

Byzantine Catholic Panachida Litany of Supplication.
The principal prayer for the dead:
O God of spirits and of all flesh, you trampled death
and broke the power of the devil and granted life to
your world. Now grant rest, O Lord, to the soul of
your servant Rev. Thomas Schmied in a place of light,
joy, and peace where there is no pain, sorrow, nor
mourning. As a good and loving God, forgive every sin
committed by him in word, deed, or thought, since there
is no one who lives and does not sin. You alone are
without sin; your justice is eternal justice; and your
word is truth.
For you, O Christ our God, are the resurrection, the
life, and the repose of your departed servant
Rev. Thomas Schmied, and we give glory to you, together
with your eternal Father, and your all-holy, good, and
life-creating Spirit, now and ever and forever.
We ask God to grant eternal life to His departed servant,
Rev. Thomas Schmied, and keep him in mind:
Eternal memory. Eternal memory. Grant, O Lord, to your
servant, blessed repose and eternal memory.
Dear Father Tom we will miss you dearly You will always
be in our hearts and our memories
