Thelma Abbett, 97, died August 7, 2008 in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Thelma was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on December 8, 1910 and married Quentin Abbett on September 28, 1935 in St. Louis, Missouri; he preceded her in death on March 22, 2001. The family lived in St. Louis until 1976, when they relocated to Appleton. In 2005, Thelma again relocated to Florida to be near her daughter.

Survivors include her daughter, Faye (Travis) Roberts of Port St. Lucie, Florida; a son: Terry (Suda) Abbett of Bethlehem, Georgia; five grandchildren; Pam Roberts Ashley, Neal (Cindy) Roberts, Ann (Bruce) Garmon, Supiya (Tonya) Abbett, and Nappy (Ray) Foster; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and be her husband Quentin Abbett in 2001.

Funeral services for Thelma will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Steve Savides and Rev. Larry Creamer officiating. Entombment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:00 noon until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorial contributions be directed to Valley Baptist Church or Treasure Coast Hospice in Florida.
