Suzan A. "Suzie" Whittaker

WHITTAKER, SUZAN (nee STERN) “SUZIE”

Suzan was born on May 5, 1955 in Milwaukee to the late Gerald and Luella Stern and died peacefully on March 8, 2009 at the age of 53 at Brewster Village after a valiant 2 ½ year ordeal fighting brain cancer. Suzie was always a feisty lady and proved it by fighting so hard with the diagnosis.

Suzan was survived by a son, Josh and her daughter, Sarah, her brother David (Amy) Stern and nephews Jeremy, Joseph and Nicholas and a great niece Cali Ayn Marie. She is further survived by her stepmother Marge Stern, stepbrother Dan (Bev) Remmel and stepsisters: Chris Mcdonald; Wendy Remmel; Cindy (Mike) DeWitt and Jennifer (Mike) Lambert. Suzan also had many loving aunts and uncles including Peggy (Hamb) Francois and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Special friends include: Jinx Meshnick and family, Susan's true friend forever, and someone who kept her smiling to the end. Sarah's foster parents Michelle and David Coulthurst. Michelle and David were there for Suzan throughout her batter with cancer. They opened their doors and their hearts to Suzan and Sarah and are deeply loved.

Suzan was preceded in death by her father Gerald Stern and mother Luella (Janus) Stern, grandparents Adeline and Oscar Stern, her maternal grandparents and uncle Romas Stern.

The funeral service for Suzan will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 13, 2009 at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN CHAPEL with Pastor Jason Oakland officiating. A time of visitation will be held at 10:00 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Sarah.

The family would like to give a special Thank You to Suzie's stepniece Shannon Moran, who was always there for Suzie. Eternal gratitude, Shannon, your care and concern will always be appreciated.

Thanks also to the staff at Brewster Village and Heartland Hospice with an extra special Thank You to Katie, Chris and Vie for your special care and love. With all of you, Suzie had many angels to be thankful for.
