We grew up by the Furstenberg's in Appleton, WI and it is with a heavy heart that I read about Stephen. I have fond memories of our neighborhood on Hancock St., as well as my neighbors. Sorry for your loss.
Dear Furstenberg family,
My heart goes out to you. Our families enjoyed such a grand friendship and I cherish memories of the cottage, Door County and many Christmas gatherings. When my father (Jim Miller) and I saw Steve last, he was in great spirits, advising my dad who was showing the first signs of Alzheimers on why he might enjoy the chair that Steve used. He was full of life, engaging and very kind. i admire his courage and tenacity and know that Mary and all the family will miss him greatly.
Mary,
Sorry to hear of the loss of your Stephen,
your "Kindred Spirit.". I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. One day we will have a great big reunion - up in Heaven.
Mary and family my sincere condolences for the loss of your Stephen. I have recently moved back to Appleton after 45 years. If I may share a story that shows Stephen's impish good nature. I was looking forward to seeing Steve maybe at our 50th high school reunion. I was going to ask him for his autograph for a performance I chuckle about every year around Halloween. I am recalling the Halloween of our 8th grade year. Mike Henderson and Steve's cousin (Steve in costume), a beautiful girl from out of town, came by my home and invited me out for evening of fun and trick or treating, eventually meeting up with Steve later. We could not find Steve and those guys maintained the charade all evening till I went home, never knowing till the next day about the girl I was smitten by. We shared a good laugh over that one. Oscar worthy, talented, fun, young friend.
We were saddened to learn of Steve's death. We send our sympathy and condolences to you, Mary, and to Noel and Mike and David. And to your families. Enjoy and cherish your good memories of Steve. And always keep your faith.
Peace of mind is a call away. We're here when you need us most.
Mary, my thoughts are with you. I have a vivid memory of running into you in the hospital after Steve had the aneurism. I will always think of Steve and his great sense of humor. There were several of us, including Steve, who laughed our way through middle school. Those were great times. He was a great guy!
You have our deepest sympathies on your loss. We hope the good memories of Steve will give you comfort at this time. Earl & Ann Sager
It was our joy having Steve at Brewster Village. He always greeted us with a smile and a happy "hello". We have many wonderful memories of his time here. He will be missed. Sincere condolences go out to Steve's family and friends.
So sorry to hear of Steve's passing. I was a classmate of his ever since moving to Appleton in the third grade. We had run into each other from time to time in the last 40+ years. Mary please accept my deepest sympathy.
Steve and his family were our neighbors every summer in Waupaca and we all grew up together. We were like one big family and spent many days swimming, water skiing and just goofing off. Our play extended into the night playing spotlight tag, cards, or whatever we could think of. They were great days and I will always cherish them. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family at their loss.
I recall the Furstenberg family from many years ago and have happy memories of playing at their house as a child. May God ease the pain of Steve`s loss for his family and friends with many happy memories, also.
Michael and Dianne thinking of you and your family .Sending you my sympathies.
RIP STEVE.First met in HS yrs @ Blacks Drive-In. God bless your soul..You were liked by many.
To the Furstenberg family, I extend my condolence. If you can imagine the time when Stephen will be resurrected back to life on earth where there will be no more sickness or having to worry about dying again, then you have a glimpse of what life will be like under God's Kingdom that we pray for when saying the "Lord's Prayer." To verify this promise in your Bible, read Isaiah twenty-six nineteen, Job thirty-three twenty-five, Isaiah twenty-five eight and Matthew six ten. We can put our faith and confidence in these promises because we know God does not lie as stated at Numbers twenty-three nineteen.
My heart goes out to all of Steve's family during this difficult time. We have many fond memories of spending time together at the lake with Mike, Noel, Steve and David. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Mary, Our sympathies go out to you and your family at this time. We are sad to hear about Steve.. He had a long difficult journey, however, a man of courage. Know that you are in our prayers... God Bless you and family.. Don and Sandy Paessler
Mary, we are very sorry for your loss. Greg & Kari Mogensen
Mary,my sympathies to you and your family it sounds like he was a wonderful man, many wonderful memories to help you through this difficult time,
When I was just 12, my family lived next door to Steve- I was 6 years older, but we still played outside together.
I'm so sad for his family and friends: we didn't live there long, but he made a lasting impression on all of us.
Please accept our deepest condolences for your family's loss.
