Stella M. Vander Linden, age 91, peacefully joined her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, December 30, 2006. Stella was born, the youngest of nine children, on May 6, 1915, daughter of the late Antone and Antonette (DeBruin) De Both, in Oneida, WI and grew up in Little Chute. She was active in softball and basketball and graduated from St. John Catholic School, with the class of 1933. Stella married Robert J. Vander Linden on June 17, 1939, at St. John Catholic Church, Little Chute. They shared 49 years together in Appleton, until Robert’s death in 1988. They enjoyed raising their 8 children and spending time with their many grandchildren. Stella loved to sing and enjoyed her many years as an alto with the Sacred Heart Parish Choir. She was a member of the Christian Mothers, St. Vincent De Paul Society and NARFE. Stella also worked at the voting polls for several years. She is the loving mother of four daughters, Judith Linden, Oak Creek, WI; Frances (Richard) Mc Ginnis, Neenah; Kathy (Glenn) Preisler, Hortonville; Ann (Chuck) Sample, Green Bay; four sons, Paul F., Plano, TX; Daniel (Sandra), Crystal Lake, IL; Mark (Susan), Appleton; George (Mary), Menasha. Dear grandmother of 20, Jacqueline (Charles) Barlow, Oak Park, IL; Michael (Susan) Betz, Rock Hill, SC; Joseph (Mia) Betz, Waukesha; Jacob Vander Linden, Hoboken, NJ; Lucas (Britta) Vander Linden, Brooklyn, NY; Howard (Kim) Hulke, Neenah; Rachel (W. Todd) Gauthier, Appleton; Elizabeth (Miles Pettit) Hulke, San Diego, CA; Benjamin (Jodi) Hulke, Appleton; Dr. Dawn Vander Linden, DVM, Mosinee; Rachel (Timothy) Pielach, Appleton; Laura (Erick) Boughton, Morton Grove, IL; Paul R. Vander Linden, Appleton; Sandy S. Vander Linden (fiancé, Richard Gibson), Appleton; Andrew Vander Linden, Appleton; Jennifer Vander Linden, Appleton; Chad (Janelle) Vander Linden, Appleton; Brad (Stacy) Vander Linden, Appleton; Chas (Renee) Sample, DePere; Katie Sample, Green Bay; 11 great grandchildren, Robert and Thomas Barlow, Leah and Aaron Gauthier, Molly and Stone Hulke, Elizabeth Boughton, Bailey and Sawyer Vander Linden, Chase and Seth Vander Linden. She was preceded in death by her four sisters and four brothers. The funeral liturgy for Stella will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, January 5, 2007, at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, 222 East Fremont Street, with Father Robert Karuhn officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home, on Thursday from 4 to 8 pm, and at the church on Friday, from 9:00 am, until the time of the mass. There will be a Parish Prayer and Scripture Service at 7:00 pm, Thursday. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation at www.pdf.org, or the Hereditary Disease Foundation, at www.hdfoundation.org, in Stella’s name.
