Jeff, Sandy and family~ My thoughts and prayers to you and your entire family. It's was so long ago, (I used to babysit the older boys, but I don't believe I ever babysat for Matt). I often think of your family, and am sorry you have to bear this and I will be praying for you to have the strength to get through this difficult time. What a blessing he must have been to sacrifice for all of us. ~René

Dear Jeff and Sandy, I thank you for bringing into this world a very loving and courageous young man. How very proud you must be. I know very few men of his age or of any age for that matter with such conviction and selflessness. God bless you and your entire family and God bless all who serve this great country of ours. I remain free due to the efforts of Matthew and all who have fallen in the line of duty as well as all those dedicated men and women who continue to serve so proudly today. Words can't adequately express my sorrow for the loss of your son. Matthew is in our creator's loving arms now and continues on a different journey. I will hold you all close to my heart with prayers for many fond memories and for peaceful days ahead. Love and God bless you, Matthew's wife, brothers and entire family.

Debbie and I did not know Matthew or Rachel or other members of the family however as we have been attending services at Calvary Community Church in Lake Geneva there is no better way that I know how to honor SSG Matthew Daniel Hermanson and those that have given their all for our country so that others can experience what freedom is and unfortunately sometimes the price is high. To honor Matthew and others I am reminded of the following poem by Patricia Krull: The Fallen Soldier Don't weep for me O' Land of the free When it was my time to fall 'Twas for my country's call 'Twas for the land that I loved, That I gave my all And for the land that I loved, I did freely give And in her freedom And her courage I'll continue to live Matthew is a true hero and he will be missed by all who knew him and loved him. God bless you Matthew and thank you.

Rachel, I'm praying for you and your family. I've read everything I can about Matthew and he was surely an amazing guy. Reading about his dedication has made me yet more determined to support our military. Asking God to give you peace and wonderful memories that last forever!
Peace of mind is a call away. We're here when you need us most.

On behalf of a very grateful nation, I thank Staff Sergeant Hermanson for his service in defending the freedoms we hold so dearly. He gave his life for us so that we may live. May our God continue to bless the Hermanson family, especially during this difficult time. Paul C. Christian Colonel USMC (Ret)

Dear Hermanson/Younger Family: We are saddened by the news of Matthew's passing and wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to you for the service your son/husband/brother did so that we may have the freedoms we do. Matt was someone we had only met at the wedding but we know he had to be one fantastic man to have been the one that caught Rachel's eye. We are sorry that you have to go through this but know that you are in our prayers daily and we would have loved to have had the chance to get to know Matthew better. GOD be with you all during this extremely difficult time. AND Rachel you know where to find me I am only a phone call away for my 2nd family... I LOVE YOU GIRL
