Shirley Mae Wilke

December 8, 1931 — November 20, 2016

Shirley Mae Wilke (Schmidt), age 84, of Neenah entered her heavenly home Sunday morning on November 20, 2016. She was surrounded by her loving family as she peacefully entered eternal bliss. She was born December 8, 1931 in Clintonville, daughter of Christine and Albert Schmidt. She graduated from Clintonville High in 1949. She moved to Appleton and worked at the Aid Association where she met Russell Wilke. They were married October 7, 1950 at St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Clintonville.

They moved to Neenah and joined Trinity Lutheran Church. After a few years, they moved to Menasha. She was employed at Pansy's Lawn and Garden Store for 24 years. She was also employed at WT Financial. She was a member and officer of Christian Women's Circle at church. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, ceramics, needlework, and cards. She was blessed with 107 grandchildren and great grandchildren. She truly enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren and tried be a part of their activities.

She is survived by her five daughters: Chris (Charles) Voigt, Brenda Neubert, Kathleen (Scott) Bierman, Colleen (Mark) Reiser, and Jean (Kevin) Redlin. She is also survived by three sons: Russ Jr. (Diane) Wilke, Robert (Donna) Wilke, and John (Sylke) Wilke. She is also survived by two sisters: Sandra (Don) Gunther and Jean Riley. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 ½ years: Russ; by her parents: Albert and Christine Schmidt; two sisters: Doris Rohlfs and Elaine Miller; brothers-in-law: Lloyd Miller, Larry Riley, and Peter Rohlfs; and one son-in-law: Michael Neubert.

Shirley was a humble and devoted disciple of Jesus. She raised her eight children in a loving Christian home. Her faith radiated to all who knew her. She loved her family dearly. She enjoyed her Christmas wreath-making for family and friends for over 40 years. She will be greatly missed, but we do celebrate her victory in Christ.

We thank Dr. Nathan Grunwald and ThedaCare at Home Hospice for the special care provided for her throughout her life. A special thanks to Pastor Tony McKenzie for his faithful service to her in feeding her spiritually. Above all, we thank God for the countless blessings He gave Shirley and for the countless blessings God gave her loved ones through her.

Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor McKenzie at Trinity Lutheran Church (407 Oak Street) in Neenah at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 26, 2016. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Neenah at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be Friday, November 25 at Wichmann Funeral Home – Tri County Chapel (1592 Oneida Street, Menasha) from 4:00 PM until 7:00 P.M. and on Saturday morning before the church service at Trinity from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church.
