Ruth Lynn Stingle

Ruth L. Stingle, 60, passed away after a brief hospitalization with pancreatic cancer on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, Appleton. She was born on June 15, 1961, in Rhinelander, the daughter of James and Rose (Waalkens) Johnson. Ruth enjoyed reading, sewing, embroidery, and collecting dragonflies, Santa Claus’, and painted rocks. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, as she loved family gatherings, and was the family historian. Family was extremely important to Ruth, especially her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Tom; son, Nathaniel; siblings: James (Linda) Johnson, Alfred (Mary) Johnson, John (Jean) Johnson, Pete (Chris) Johnson, Carol (Roy) Liebergen, Cindy (Glenn) Tank, Debbie  (domestic partner Sergio Rodriguez) Johnson, Christine (William) Peterson, Arletta (special friend John Spice) Johnson; brothers- and sisters-in-law: Don (Helen) Stingle, Mary Grosskopf, Shirley (Larry) Mercier, Sue (Paul) Thiel, Roy (Alice) Stingle, Dan (Cherie) Stingle, Joan (Tim) Trettin; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; a brother: Roger Johnson; nephew: Matthew Johnson; great nephew: Zachary Brazeau; father- and mother-in-law: LaVerne and Alice Stingle; and a brother-in-law: Nick Grosskopf.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am, on Monday, October 18, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 410 W. Lawrence St., Appleton. Visitation will be on Monday at the church from 9:00 am until the time of the Mass. In addition, the family will greet friends and family on Sunday, October 17, 2021, at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St., Appleton from 4:00 pm until the time of the prayer service at 6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are appreciated to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.
