Ruth J. Weyenberg

August 22, 1928 — September 19, 2016

Ruth J. Weyenberg, age 88 of Clintonville, passed away on September 19, 2016. Ruth was born on August 22, 1928 in Merrill Wisconsin to Iver and Edna (Plamann) Thompson. She was a graduate of Merrill High School. In high school, she was sent to a statewide competition for Forensics. On July 12, 1958 she married Alvin Weyenberg in Appleton, Wisconsin and he preceded her in death. She was a long time employee of Honeywell, Wilmar's Chocolates and I Bahcall Steel and Pipe. Ruth was a very fun loving woman. She liked sewing and baking Christmas cookies and candies. She also loved music and even played bass and sang in a Jazz Band. She also enjoyed dancing, bowling and playing cards and other games. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Appleton where she taught Sunday School, volunteered in the women's club and helped serve funeral meals.

She is survived by four children: Cheryl (Jim) Turner of Imperial California; Dennis (Jane) Weyenberg of Appleton; Rick (Cindy) Weyenberg of Hortonville; Jackie (Craig) Messner of Clintonville, grandchildren: Jennifer; Peter (Tracy); Teresa (Michael); Ramsey (Matt); Torrie (Josh); Kaley (Andrew); Ryan (Sara); Scot; Sara, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, brother-in-law Dennis Sauberlich; sister-in-law Marie Weyenberg, as well as many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Alvin, three sisters: Dorothy Verstegan, Elaine (Milton) Paroubek and Geraldine Sauberlich.

Visitation for Ruth will be on Thursday, September 22, 2016 from 9:30am to 10:45am at First United Methodist Church, 325 E. Franklin Street in Appleton. Funeral Service will be at 11:00am at the church with Rev. Keith Wolf officiating. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton. The family would like to thank the staff and nurses of Kindred Hearts Assisted Living and Green Tree Nursing Home of Clintonville and ThedaCare of Shawano for the care given to Ruth.
