Ruth I. Roblee

December 31, 1911 — August 24, 2005

ROBLEE, RUTH I.
(Mrs. Wallace)

Ruth Ida Roblee, of Appleton, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2005. Ruth was born on December 31, 1911, in Appleton, the daughter of Anna (Wendt) Forbeck and Fred Forbeck. She and Wallace True Roblee married on August 14, 1938, at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Appleton. Ruth was employed at Aid Association for Lutherans (AAL) for 29 years where she was a supervisor, retiring in 1974. Ruth and Wally retired to their home, Thorhaven, in Door County, returning to Appleton in 1998. Her much loved husband of 66 years, Wally, preceded her in death on April 22, 2005. She is survived by her two daughters, Gail (Robert L.) Stevenson, of Appleton, and Patricia Nelson (Thomas Derby) of Appleton, three grandchildren: Erica (Craig) Jensen of Burlington, Wisconsin; Erik (Deanna Brooks) Nelson of Hudson, Wisconsin; and Michael (Heather) Stevenson of Appleton; six great grandchildren: Christian and Ethan Jensen, Alexandria Brooks and Molly Nelson, and Samantha and Cassandra Stevenson; and several nieces and nephews, and many friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her brother Oscar and sister-in-law, Marjorie Forbeck, sister Nora and brother-in-law, Robert Nehls, and sister Gertrude and brother-in-law, Thomas Ryan. This beloved woman was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was our teacher, friend, mentor, confidante, cribbage partner, role model, and source of inspiration. She will leave a large empty space in our lives, but will be forever in our hearts. She died with the same dignity with which she lived and now she will be our Guardian Angel. Love from all of us and “See you (and Dad) later.” We want to thank the Home Instead caregivers and nurses from Theda Care At Home Hospice for their kind attention, especially Paul for his compassionate wisdom. We want to extend a special “Thank You” to Cheryl Witter (again) for her wonderful care of our parents and for being a special friend (as well as niece) to our family. In addition, thank you to Kay Busse who, for the last several years, faithfully came to the house to cut Dad’s and style Mom’s hair. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her name to benefit St. Paul Lutheran School, and Fox Valley Lutheran High School, Appleton. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2005, at ST. PAUL EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 302 North Morrison Street, Appleton, with Pastor John C. Baumann and Pastor Ralph C. Waack officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Appleton.
