Ruth E. Polfuss

Ruth Polfuss, age 76, passed away on Friday morning, June 10, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. She was born in Oshkosh on May 7, 1935, daughter of the late John and Alice (Leininger) Norman, and on November 30, 1956, Ruth married Kenneth Polfuss, the couple shared fifty-two wonderful years together. For over twenty years, Ruth was employed as the Linen Supervisor at Appleton Medical Center, retiring in 1998. She was named the Laundry Manager of the Year three times, and was also a member of the Wisconsin Linen Managers Association and First English Lutheran Church.

She is survived by two children: Kathy and Steve Drier of Appleton and Keith and Michele Polfuss, also of Appleton; eight grandchildren: Jillian, Stephanie, Alison, Melissa, Karie, Margaret, Derek and Matthew; three great-grandchildren: Logan, Kenley, and Molly; a sister: Joyce and Herbert Pollnow of Oshkosh; a brother: Donald and Mary Norman of Omro; and a sister-in-law: Barbara Norman of Iron River, Michigan. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth in 2008, her daughter Kelly in 2009, and a brother: Robert “Red” Norman.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 13, 2011 at FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 326 East North Street, Appleton, with Rev. Mary Bauer officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Appleton High School Sports.
