LARSEN, RUTH E.

Ruth E. Larsen, age 94, of Appleton, passed away at Oakridge Gardens, Menasha, on Saturday, March 24, 2012. Ruth was born on March 27, 1917, in Neenah, to the late Milo and Inez (Tipler) Robinson. She married Stanley Larsen on June 15, 1940, in Neenah; he preceded her in death on May 19, 1996. Stan and Ruth moved to New Milford, Connecticut, in 1958 and returned to Wisconsin in 1976 upon Stan's retirement. Ruth and Stan wintered in Florida and spent their summers at their cottage on Pickeral Lake. She loved to play cards at the Senior Center, enjoyed knitting for family and church benefits, and reading. Her passions included making award-winning quilts, her tomato plants and fishing. Survivors include her daughter, Freddie (Lonn) Finger, Appleton, and Jim Larsen, Groton, Connecticut; her grandchildren, Lonnie (Miles) Milbach, Appleton; Lindsay Larsen, San Francisco, California; Kelly Larsen, Milton, Massachusetts; and Julie Larsen, East Hampton, Connecticut; her great grandchildren, Tyler Milbach (fiancé Courtney), Cory Milbach, Emily Milbach, Amanda (Michael) Denton, Andrea (Pablo) Isaias and Chelsea Seils; and her great great grandchildren, Alyssa Behling, Kaylee Denton, Mya Denton and Armand Isaias; her sister, Jane (Bob) Adams, Mission Viejo, California. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Reinke and her granddaughter, Linda Seils. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2012, at ST. JOHN UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, 1130 W. Marquette Street, Appleton, with Rev. Dr. Tom Fritz officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in Oakhill Cemetery, Neenah. Ruth's family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the nurses and CNAs at Oakridge Gardens, and the staff of Heartland Hospice, for taking such good care of Mom. Special thanks are also extended to great granddaughter Emily for being so kind to her great grandma and spending so much time with her at the nursing home.
