Gary & Edie Krueger left a message on April 6, 2009:
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ruth's family. Ruth was a very warm and friendly person. I especially remember her smile and laugh. She always welcomed me and anyone else who was over to her and George's house or cottage on Wheeler Lake. She loved George and her children, as well as life. Ruth was accepting of everyone and always treated those in her company with warmth. She will be missed, but not forgotten. Our loss is heaven's gain.

Sorry to hear of her passing. She is the wife of my Dad's cousin. Our families got together a few times when I was a kid and I remember Ruth as being a very pleasant person. I wish I would have known her and her family better. Our thoughts and prayers to George and the extended family.

I extend my sympathy to George, my brother; my nephews: Mike, Mark, Gary and Bob, and their children. Ruth will surely be missed by all of you. She represented such good, strong family values, and had a cheerful positive outlook on life, even when ill. Her religous beliefs helped her accept her physical discomforts no matter how difficult. Ruth had varied interests: she loved family reunions, traveling, meeting new people, sightseeing, camping, playing cards, music, theater, etc. George, Ruth and I not only met at family functions, but we did some traveling together which I will fondly remember always. Her genuineness left me feeling that I was not only a sister-in-law but a friend.

I will always remember Ruth's great smile and welcoming ways, great times camping with families up north, bridge and the cabin on Wheeler Lake. Our loss is heavens gain. Our prayers go to George, the boys and their families at this time. My parents Bob and Betty also send their condolences.
Devorah Herberg left a message on April 6, 2009:
I would like to share my condolences with the Family and Friends of my Aunt Ruth! My mother, Edna, and Aunt Ruth were real simpaticos, especially both having the similar symptoms of the disease of emphysema. I always admired them both for their not complaining about their situation! In that, they both understood each other! It was wonderful to spend time with both of them while we were in Las Vegas for Uncle Jack and Aunt Vangie's Anniversary! They both knew what their limits were, and still laughed about it! I will never forget the day on my last visit to Wisconsin, where Uncle George and Aunt Ruth took me to see not only where the houses where my family lived, but the houses Grandma and Grandpa used to live! Now, that is alot of houses!!(an inside joke!!) And, it was raining and then, of course it snowed! Their beautiful back yard looked like a fairy winter land!! May the softness of Jesus's love surround all of you and quiet your heart!! All my love!! Devorah

George,I have a great deal of empathy for you following your loss of a very gracious and wonderful lady. Ruth was an exceptionally pleasant family member of whom I have very fond memories. I was always impressed in her dedication to and the pride she displayed of her family. You can be rightly proud of her and how she supported you in all of your endeavors. Her fortitude and determination in living with her illness will always linger in my memory. This is not a plesant time for you, but eventually your sorrow will abate and bring back fond memories of what a wonderful marriage you both enjoyed. You are fortunate in having such an understanding and considerate family to console you during this trying time. Jack

My condolences to you at this difficult time. I remember many years of campimg together. Trailers shaking during the night, empty cans in front of doors, a skunk fight under your camper at Trout Lake, sliding down a pine covered hill on a toilet at Star Lake, a broken plastic fork in a peice of apple pie. Keep these and all your memories alive and may God bless you and give strengh, courage and peace at this time and always.

Dear Uncle George, cousins Mark, Mike, Gary, Bob and family. I was so sorry to learn of Aunt Ruth's passing. I have so many wonderful memories of her dating back to visiting your family in Appleton when I was just a teenager to seeing her in recent years here in Phx at the family reunions. I will miss her smile and her laughter and as difficult as it is to let go and accept that she is no longer here with us in the physical sense, she had great love for her family and the wonderful memories she created with all of us will be a source of comfort during this time of sorrow and to treasure and cherish always. Love, Jeanne

Ruth left us all with warm memories. Her loving heart, patience with boys making trouble and a sence of humor allowing her easy laugh to light up any room are the influences she made upon me. Knowing she is safe in His care I hope softens her absence.

Our very sincere sympathy to you and your family, George. We remember fondly when you and Ruth, and others in your family, came to visit with Herberg descendants in Western Wisconsin, where the Herbergs first settled when they came to America from Norway, in 1866. We will miss Ruth's caring, kindness and enthusiasm. God bless you. Mike and Geri Hanson
