Russell W. Eberhard

June 30, 1932 — July 11, 2020

Russell W. Eberhard passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2020. Russell was born in Neenah on June 30, 1932, son of the late Harry and Laurel (Little) Eberhard.  He married Mary Ann “Rita” Berg on October 18, 1958.

Russell served in the US Army and was a veteran of the Korean War.

He was a member of the Travelers Protective Association, being a past president and board member of Post “N” Appleton.

He is survived by his sisters-in-law, Doris (Harrison) Eberhard, Margaret (Gary) Eberhard, Kathleen (Allan “John”) Berg, Lynda (James) Berg, as well as many nieces and nephews in the Eberhard and Berg families.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita, a son, Wayne, his parents and his siblings: sister Geneva and brothers Leslie, Harrison and Gary.

Russell loved family gatherings, especially those that featured his wife’s amazing cooking. He enjoyed time with his many friends throughout his life — lunches, many evenings of Friday night fish and summer weekends at Shawano Lake. He had a quick wit and an answer for everything.  We remember his wonderful laugh — large, joyous and full of life.  He was a proud Packer season ticket holder going back to the 1950’s.

Russell loved to travel and for many years spent a week in Florida every March with Rita and her family.  He always rented a convertible.  Russell and Rita went to World’s Fairs in Montreal, New York and New Orleans.  They visited Gatlinburg, Tennessee, for 15 years, to celebrate their wedding anniversary and to see the Fall colors.  He had a memorable trip to Europe in 2003 with Rita, and he always planned to go back.  Instead we’ll have to do it for him.  He will be missed.

A special thank you to the staff at Heartwood Homes, who cared for him so well these last six months.
