Rudolph Meyer, age 83, of Appleton, passed away peacefully at his home with his family at his side on Monday, July 13, 2015. He was born on March 15, 1932 in the Town of Almon, to the late Walter and Erna (Jahn) Meyer. On May 17, 1952, Rudy married the love of his life, Dixie Roever at Peace Lutheran Church in Split Rock, Wisconsin. Rudy served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953 until 1956. Rudy worked as a mechanic for a few area dealerships before and after he owned and operated Meyer's Standard Service for ten years. He was well known as a trustworthy mechanic by many fellow mechanics and friends. Rudy was Mr. Fixer for many things, and was known as generous, honest, kind and a good listener by all. He was a longtime member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Appleton, and a former counsel member and Sunday school teacher. Some of his passions included listening and dancing to polka music, woodworking, golfing, bowling, driving, and reading. When Rudy began losing his eye sight thirteen years ago he took a liking to audio books.

Rudy leaves behind his beloved wife of 63 years, Dixie Meyer; children: Steve (Lisa) Meyer of Baraboo; Scott, Sr. (Morelia) Meyer of Sun Prairie; and Wendy (Todd) Miller of Oshkosh; grandchildren: Melanie Meyer and Amy (fiancée Bruce Flinn) Meyer; Luisa Meyer and Scott Jr. Meyer; Alexander Miller; sisters-in-law: Wilma Meyer and Frances Wolfenden. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Rudy was preceded in death by his brothers Ervin Meyer and Edward Meyer.
