Roy E. Rodgers

October 16, 1931 — March 1, 2016

Roy E. Rodgers, loving husband and father passed away March 1, 2016 at Hospice at Cherry Meadows. Born October 16, 1931 in Racine, WI, he is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol Rodgers, and two daughters, Janet Rodgers Hornich (Frank Hornich)and Sandy Rodgers.

Roy's career began with a historical landmark – sending a man to the moon. While working at AC Electronics, in Oak Creek Wi, Roy was asked to participate in the Apollo mission and determine how to send an astronaut to the moon and even more difficult – how to bring that man back to earth… all with a computer that had less power than today's cell phone. An accomplishment he was humbly proud of.

Roy enjoyed a rewarding career in the field of quality control. Prior to owning a successful consulting firm, Roy was a Quality Control Manager at Appleton's Allis Chalmers.

While his career required using a high level of mathematics and engineering skills, his personal interests included writing poetry and painting water colors. He was a prolific reader delving into everything from mysteries to politics.

When approaching his own death, he crafted a poem which ended by saying “It's not the time to fret or weep for futures we had planned… Don't grieve for me my brethren, enjoy your life at hand.”

Per Roy's wishes, there will be no funeral service. Instead, a memorial service will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Thedacare Hospice Foundation – Cherry Meadows (www.thedacare.org).
