Roger W. Goers, 74, of Appleton, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Colony Oaks Care Center.

Roger was born on March 21, 1937 to Margaret Horn in Shawano and was later adopted by her second husband, Adolph Goers. Roger married Mary Jane Scherbarth on January 23, 1960. He owned and operated Goers Red Owl and Goers Food Fair in Hortonville. Roger then worked as a custodian in Appleton at First Congregational Church then St. Bernard Catholic Church. He collected sports memorabilia and coins, and enjoyed fishing and going to rummage sales.

Roger is survived by his wife, Mary Jane, three children; Lisa (John) King of Appleton, Todd (Kitsie) Goers of North Carolina, Christopher Goers of Appleton, four grandchildren; Kimberly King, Michelle (Mark) Smith, Madison Goers and Adam Goers, a step brother, Don Goers, a step father, Henry Woods and a good friend Bill Marx.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service for Roger will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 2:00 PM at FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH (601 E. Glendale Ave.). A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 from 12:00 noon until the time of services at the church.
