Age 60, died suddenly on Thursday, October 4, 2001. Robert was born on January 28, 1941 in Neenah, the son of Gilbert and Mabel (Schwandt) Handt. He married Carol Gardner on February 16, 1963, and they have enjoyed 38 years of marriage. Robert was employed at Graphic Composition for 40 years as a customer service representative and salesman. He also worked part-time at K-Mart for 24 years. Robert loved outdoor activities; especially gardening, trout fishing and golfing. He also enjoyed bowling, and was proud of the ring he earned for a perfect “300” game. Robert also loved playing blackjack and sheephead. Robert would light up any room he entered, just as he lit up the lives of his family. He was a friendly hardworking man who loved his family, and he will be greatly missed by them. Robert is survived by his wife Carol; his father, Gilbert (Norma) Handt, Winchester; his daughter, Noelle (Jon) Hauser, and their children Bryan and Christopher, Appleton; his 2 sons, Gregg (Holly) Handt, and their children Felicia and Danielle, Seymour; Gary Handt, Appleton; his sister, Rochelle (Randall) Heider, Greenville; his step-sister, Carol (John) Zitzner, and their daughter Starlene, Brookfield, Wisconsin; and his nieces and nephews, Michael, Scott, Kim, Todd and Tamara. He is further survived by many loving friends. Robert was preceded in death by his mother Mabel Handt. The Funeral Service will be held at Noon, on Saturday, October 6, 2001 at the funeral home, with Rev. Todd Murken officiating. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday, October 6 from 9 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
