Bob Eiting, age 77, passed away at his home early on Saturday, November 26, 2011. Bob was born in Hollandtown on May 24, 1934, son of the late Elmer and Magdalen (Nackers) Eiting. During the 1950's he served in the United States Army, stationed in Europe. On April 15, 1961, he married the former Judy Broeren in Hollandtown; she survives. For many years, Bob worked as a truck driver for various ready-mix companies in the area, and eventually worked himself up to sales and management positions. Many will also remember Bob for the years he worked at Van Abel's. In his retirement, he also enjoyed driving school bus for Kobussen Buses. Bob also loved playing sheephead, fishing, and the Green Bay Packers.

He is survived by his wife: Judy Eiting; four children: Lynn Gerrits; Elmer (Peggy) Eiting; Cheryl (Ken) Hammen; and Scott Eiting; six grandchildren: Willie Gerrits, Tracy (Mike) Wittmann, Brady Eiting, Peyton Eiting, Christopher Hammen, and Courtney Hammen; two great-grandchildren: Gerrit and Cayden; a brother: Dick (Betty) Eiting; a sister: Alice (Mike) Janssen; a sister-in-law: Karen (John) Ploederl; and four brothers-in-law: Jerry (Shirley) Broeren; Bob (Karen) Broeren; Jack Berghuis; and Cliff Feldkamp. There are also many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters: Janice (Ray) Van Zeeland, Rosemary Berghuis, and Helen “Butchie” Feldkamp; and Judy's parents: Gilbert and Marion (Micke) Broeren.

A memorial mass for Bob will be held at 5:00 PM on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH – St. Francis Church in Hollandtown. Fr. Willard Van De Loo and Fr. Jerry Pastors will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Thursday afternoon from 2:00 PM until the time of the mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established for cancer research.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to St. Paul Hospice and their staff, Dr. Timothy Goggins and his staff, and the UW Hospital and Clinics, especially Dr. Natalie Callender for her loving care. Thank you also to the various pharmaceutical companies who supported Bob's treatments. Their generosity helped Bob deal with his illness for a little time longer.
