Robert J. Wiegman

August 30, 1948 — August 6, 2016

Robert “Bob” John Wiegman, age 67, was called home to his heavenly Father on August 6, 2016 in Appleton, Wisconsin after a short and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Bob was born in Chicago, Illinois to Robert and Phyllis Wiegman on August 30, 1948. He graduated from Niles West High School in 1966. He then attended Milwaukee Lutheran Teachers College for two years where he met his future wife Sandra “Sandy” Schroeder. Bob graduated with a teaching degree from Doctor Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota in 1970. Bob and Sandy were married on July 25, 1970, and they were blessed with 46 years of marriage. Time spent with family was most precious to him.

Bob served as a Wisconsin Synod Lutheran grade school principal and teacher for forty-five years at four congregations: six years at Zion Lutheran in Sanborn, Minnesota; ten years at St. John's Lutheran in Oak Creek, Wisconsin; eight years at St. Paul Lutheran in Green Bay, Wisconsin and twenty-one years at St. Paul's Lutheran in Onalaska, Wisconsin. During his tenure as principal, he consistently spearheaded school growth and facilities development. As a Christian educator and leader in the church, Bob made sure that each student knew they were uniquely created by God and given special gifts and abilities by their Savior, Jesus Christ.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Phyllis Wiegman. Bob is survived by his loving wife: Sandra; his children: Kirsten (Christopher) Corbell, Andy (Eva) Wiegman, Katie (Chad) Wolfrath, Aaron Wiegman, and Zachary (Stephanie) Wiegman; his siblings: Gayle (William) Springer, Bruce (Anne) Wiegman, Gloria Springer, and Pamela (Tom) Plamann. Bob's grandchildren are Hannah, Ellyse, and Grant Wolfrath; Ada Corbell; and Vivian and Betsy Wiegman. Bob was very loved by so many friends and family. He was always seeking ways to serve, help, share knowledge and build relationships.

The Christian Funeral Service for Bob will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH in Greenville, with Rev. Phil Koelpin officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Monday August 8, 2016 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Tuesday, August 9 from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.

Memorials honoring Bob's many years of teaching service may be donated to St. Paul's Lutheran in Onalaska for their tuition assistance program or to Immanuel Lutheran in Greenville for their building fund.

The Wiegman family wishes to extend our sincere thanks for the exceptional, personalized care received from Dr. Guenther and Dr. Swanson, as well as the nurses and staff at the Fox Valley Hematology and Oncology Clinic and the 7th Floor Oncology Unit at ThedaCare-Appleton.
