Janet Fisher left a message on May 31, 2014:

My name is Janet Pearl Emick Fisher==I am Robert Van Fossen's first cousin. My mothers name was Florence Martha Raven Emick. She was Robert's mother' sister. Also, Eleanor Vankirk was my mother's sister. And yes, I do remember our wonderful grandmother Pearl Raven and was named after her. We were on the computer and I decided to check out my cousins and came across Robert's obituary. We know the feeling of losing a loved one. Please accept our deepest sympathy for the loss of your husband and father.

My brother Donald Louis Emick lives in Escondido, Calif. and is 78 years old.
This might not be appropriate for getting this information in this column, but wanted to send our condolences.

I am so sorry for your loss. Bob was a respected and well liked man.
I will miss his good humor and friendship. I just wish he knew about sports.
That was our connection. He had just won my NCAA board. I hope I can
be half the man he was. Again, so sorry but he will not be forgotten.
