Robert D. Sternitzky

September 18, 1934 — July 22, 2005

Robert David Sternitzky
"Bob"
Appleton

Age 70, passed away Friday, July 22, 2005 following a long illness. He was born September 18, 1934, in Wausau, Wisconsin, son of the late Robert H. and Anola (Cook) Sternitzky. Bob married Emmie Lou Tapper on January 27, 1962 in Munster, Indiana.

At the age of 11, Bob and his family moved to Menasha, where he attended St. Patrick's Catholic School, and graduated from Menasha High School. Bob attended UW-¬Oshkosh, and was a graduate of Lawrence University. His career in sales and marketing spanned over 30 years, which was mainly in the welding industry.

Bob was well-known for his great sense of humor, being quick witted, and loving to tell jokes and puns. He was not known for his singing talent, but for his love of musical theatre, and always having a show tune ready for any occasion. He was an avid birdwatcher, and kept a record of all bird species that entered his yard, wherever he lived. Bob loved to fly fish, and spending time with his grandchildren, introducing them to all the old movies. Since his retirement he was able to spend more time on his love of family history, especially focusing on the life of his great-grand uncle, S.A. Cook.

Bob is survived by his wife of 43 years, Emmie; his daughter, Susan (Gary) Fassbender, Appleton; a son, Robert R. Sternitzky, Brooklyn, New York, and two grandchildren, Kathryne and Bryan Fassbender. He is further survived by his sisters: Mary (Richard) Knapp, Arkansas, Margot (Robert) Weineke, Texas; a brother, John (Karen) Sternitzky, Georgia; a brother-in-law Roland (Joyce) Tapper, Alaska, and many nieces and nephews.
