Rick C. Whitman

Rick Whitman, age 55, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Oakridge Gardens. Rick was born in New London on July 27, 1957, son of the late Charles and Marceil (Moser) Whitman. He attended New London High School and also received his Commercial Driver's License; he so loved driving trucks! Rick married the former Sandra Locy on November 8, 1980, and they enjoyed thirty-two years together. Rick will also be remembered as a baker of biscuits at Hardee's and a baker of pies at Perkins. He was a longtime and very active member of Christ the Rock Community Church, where he participated in the men's ministry, the choir, various musical productions, the food pantry, and in the technical ministry as well. He loved his coffee and enjoyed challenging everyone by speaking fluent German to them (even if they couldn't speak it back). Rick was a very social person, loved the company of others, and enjoyed joking around with everyone. He was also an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers.

Rick is survived by his wife: Sandra (nee Locy) Whitman of Appleton; two sisters: Vicky (Victor) Giacalone of Waupaca and their children Adam (Alyse) and Alex; and Jamie (Tony) Ross of Caroline and their children Jeremiah, Josiah, Abigail, Lydia, and Ariel; a great-niece: Autumn; as well as Sandy's siblings and their families. There also are surviving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister Mary Edna, and by Sandy's parents: John and Yvonne Locy.

The family would like to offer their sincere thanks to the entire staff at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh, who went so far beyond the call of duty to exceed our expectations – you were so wonderful to our family. Thanks also to the caregivers at Oakridge Gardens; we will forever remember your kindness.

The Christian Funeral for Rick will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday morning, March 9, 2013 at Christ the Rock Community Church, W6254 Highway 10-114 in Menasha. Pastor John Kieffer will officiate, and interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Tri County Chapel, on Friday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and again at the church on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
