Richard O. "Rich" Krueger

March 29, 1934 — November 22, 2018

Passed away on Thursday, November 22nd, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Hospital at age 84. Richard was born in Appleton, WI. to Gustave and Olga Krueger.

Rich spent his entire life in Appleton and loved to share stories about its history. After graduating from Appleton High School, he went on to a long career as a small engine machinist with Automotive Supply Company. Following retirement from Automotive, he worked numerous part time jobs until physically unable to do so. He missed interacting with the public and often talked about how he wished he was still able to work.

He was a member of the 395th Ordinance Division of the U.S. Army reserves. He volunteered at St. Joe's food pantry for 17 years where he was fondly known as “the pickle man”. Some of Rich's favorite things were hunting and fishing, cribbage, sheepshead, bingo and watching any type of sports. Of late he could often be found in one of the local parks under a shade tree napping or just watching people fish off of the shore line.

Rich was most proud of the fact that he had 32 years of sobriety and an amazing fellowship with many people.

To Oakridge Gardens staff in dad's words … Top shelf! To Patrick and Abby… Thank you for being the angels who took that last most difficult walk with him and the family.

Richard is survived by his children; Steven (Nancy), Pamela (the late Will) Radloff and Kevin (the late Char); Granddaughter Nicole Krueger; Mother of his children Beverly Krueger and sister-in-law Bonnie Krueger.

Richard is proceeded in death by his parents, his daughters Debra and Julie, his brothers Arlin (the late Carol), Duane, Ervin (the late Phyllis), Elroy (the late Amanda), and Harlan; second wife Della and very special friend Rose Mirkes.

For those wishing to celebrate Richards life a service will be held on Saturday December 1st, 2018 at Wichmann Funeral, 537 N. Superior St. Appleton, WI at 6:30 PM. Visitation at the funeral home will begin at 4:00 PM until time of service. Richard will be laid to rest privately at a later date. A memorial fund is being established in his name.
