Richard "Leapy" Liebhauser

August 13, 1951 — September 7, 2014

Richard J. “Leapy” Liebhauser, age 63, of Menasha, passed away at his residence on Sunday, September 7, 2014 with his loving family surrounding him. On August 13, 1951, Richard Joseph was born at Theda Clark Memorial Hospital in Neenah to the late George A. and Mabel G. (Taggart) Liebhauser. Rick was a 1969 graduate of St. Mary High School. On September 10, 1971, Rick was united in marriage to Susan Eskofski during a candlelit ceremony at St. Mary Catholic Church in Menasha. He had worked for the City of Menasha and retired in 2002 after 34 years of service. He was very handy and liked to do side jobs. In his younger years, Rick started racing stock cars at age 17. He also had a Harley-Davidson that he loved to ride. Rick enjoyed coin collecting as well as model cars. In his free time, he enjoyed going to the cottage in Tomahawk. Rick spent many hours fishing, hunting, and telling several tall tales. Rick had some hobby pets for a while which included an alligator, chickens, birds, a turtle, rabbits, ducks, a pig, and squirrels! Most of all, Rick loved his family and spending every moment he could with them.
Rick will be missed by his loving wife of 43 years, Sue; his children: James (Stacey) Liebhauser and their daughter, Cassandra; Tara (Troy) Albrecht, and their children: Brooke, Alex, and Nyla; Heather (Matt) Schultz, and their children: Tyler and Jayden; his brother, William G. Liebhauser; a sister-in-law, Sally Liebhauser; and many close relatives and special friends.
In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Liebhauser and a sister, Karen Liebhauser.
A Time of Remembrance will be held at 6:30 pm on Friday, September 12, 2014 at Wichmann Funeral Home-Laemmrich Chapel, 312 Milwaukee Street in Menasha. A Memorial Gathering will be held from 3:30pm until the hour of Time of Remembrance at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established. The family would like to give their sincere thanks to the Dr.'s, nurses and staff of Theda Clark Medical Center and Theda Care Hospice for their loving care given to Rick.
Also a special thank you to Doug Trentlage for helping out Rick and Sue during these past few months, your good will, will never be forgotten.
