Richard L. Scheibe

March 17, 1953 — June 2, 2016

Richard Lee Scheibe was born into this earthly world March 17, 1953 to Evelyn (Werner) and Richard C. Scheibe and born into eternal life Thursday June 2, 2016 with his loving wife by his side after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

For over thirty years, Rick was employed at the Kimberly paper mill, and always enjoyed spending time with his family, singing with his church choir family, watching NASCAR, classic cars, and riding his Goldwing with friends from church “Wings and Bacon”, and being part of “Skull Brothers” with longtime friends Jeff Huntington, John Peotter, and Teddy Peotter.

Rick is survived by his wife of 38 years: Patti, whom he married April 15, 1978: four children: Nathan (Stephanie) Scheibe, Rachel (Justin) Ashauer, Jenna (Ben) Haney, and Amanda (Patrick) Berg; his mother: Evelyn Krueger; and two sisters: Vicki (Dave) Sprissler and Pam (Dan) Johnson. He will also be missed by his grandchildren: Isaiah and Maria Scheibe, Ella and Olive Ashauer, and Laela and Maizie Haney; and three others on the way; sisters and brothers in law: Barb Knaack, Al Lambie, Jim Kling, Mike (Deb) Beyer, Mary (Randy) Baxter, Debbie (Tony) Schweitzer, and Mark (Jill) Beyer; nieces and nephews and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his father: Richard C. Scheibe; his stepfather: Walter Krueger, his mother and father-in-law: Virginia and Harold Beyer; sisters-in-law: Cheryl Lambie and Janis Kling; a brother-in-law: Ronald Knaack; and nephews: Brian and Eric Lambie and Kurt Knaack.

A memorial mass for Rick will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at ST. EDWARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, N2926 State Road 47 in Mackville, with Fr. Walter Stumpf officiating. Inurnment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends and family are invited to gather on Monday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior Street in Appleton, and again at the church on Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Visitation will conclude on Monday evening with a parish prayer service at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Rick's name.

The Scheibe family would like to thank their family, friends, and community for the overwhelming support during this battle. Also to Stephanie Scheibe for doing such a great job on CaringBridge. You all kept us strong and lifted us up in prayer. A thank you is also extended to Dr. Editha Krueger and Dr. Kevin Mortara at Bellin Health, and ThedaCare At Home Hospice.
