Richard E. Welch

August 6, 1940 — July 11, 2012

Richard E. “Smiley” Welch age 71 passed away on July 11, 2012 at Theda Clark Medical Center. He was born on August 6, 1940. On April 16, 1966 Dick married Janet Quimby in Cedar Springs, Manawa. He retired from Thilmany Pulp & Paper Company after 34 years. Going to the races every Thursday and watching them on TV was a favorite pastime. He was also an avid Packer Fan. Dick was a member and volunteer of El Shaddai Christian Fellowship. He also volunteered at Thousand Islands Environmental Center. He loved to spend time with family and friends. Zoe enjoyed riding with Grandpa on the garden tractor.

Dick is survived by his wife, Janet Welch, Kaukauna; a son: Timothy Welch, Kaukauna; three grandchildren: Kaylee Platten and Paige and Zoe Welch, nephews, cousins and relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Jeremy.

A Celebration of Dick's life will be held on Tuesday, July 17 at 7:00 p.m. at the Fargo Funeral Home, 400 W. Wisconsin Avenue, Kaukauna with Pastors Jan and Ken Frederickson officiating. A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:30p.m.until the time of service.
