Richard C. Green

January 31, 1931 — April 5, 2012

Richard C. Green, age 81, passed away on Thursday morning, April 5, 2012, at Parkside Care Center. Dick was born in Shawano County on January 31, 1931, son of the late Walter and Ella (Lutzow) Green. He graduated from Tigerton High School in 1949 and as a young man worked at the Deep Rock service station in Wausau. He entered the United States Air Force in 1951, and served actively for four years as well as being in the reserves for four years. On June 2, 1956, he married Verna Gast in Mattoon, and returned to work at the Deep Rock station, as well as Clean Towel Service. He was transferred to Appleton in 1966, and in 1977 began work at Miller Electric. He retired from Miller Electric in 1994. In his retirement he did some consulting work in the plastics industry and also delivered the Post Crescent to the carriers. Dick was a member of Johnston-Blessman Post #38 of the American Legion. He loved to read the newspaper, watch the Packers, and spend time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife: Verna Green of Appleton; three children: Scott (Terri) Green of Greenville; Timm (Jeannie) Green of Appleton; Robin (Steve) Van Grinsven of Appleton; eight grandchildren: Ryan Green and his fiancée Jaimy Rollo; Danielle (Andy) Trefethren; Aaron and his special friend Jenny; Jordan Green; Niki Green and her special friend Ryan; Gina Green and her special friend Tim; Katie Van Grinsven; and Eric Van Grinsven; a great-grandson: Carter; a sister: LaVonne (Lyle) Krull of Birnamwood; two sisters-in-law: Betty Green of Wausau and Lisa Palmer of Florida; and a brother-in-law: Dean Gast of Florida; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Harvey and Lorena (Reinke) Gast; and brothers Wallace Green, Ken (Lois) Green, Jack (Lillian) Green, and Robert Green.

The funeral service for Dick will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 601 E. Glendale Avenue. Full military honors will follow, and burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
