Reinald “Bud” Hoerning, age 81, of Appleton, entered his Eternal Home on Saturday, September 11, 2010, at Appleton Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Bud was born on April 25, 1929, in Appleton, to the late Reinhold and Irene (Knaack) Hoerning. He married Joan Lang on June 13, 1951, in Appleton; she survives. Bud was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Gifted musically, he attended Stetson University in DeLand, Florida, on a music scholarship and then attended Marquette University. Bud was employed as a Department Supervisor at American Can Corporation for over 30 years, retiring in 1985. He enjoyed many years with Joan, family and friends at his cottage in Sugar Camp; played in the U. S. Army Reserves Band; enjoyed reading; and was former President of the Congregation at Mount Olive Ev. Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Joan; his daughters, Christine (Gary) Kreft, Arizona; Connie Hoerning, Appleton; and Carrie (Gary) Gromacki, Illinois; his grandchildren, Daniel Heinritz (fiancée Tracy), and Julie Gromacki; his sister, Kareen (Bruce) Stelow, South Carolina. Bud is further survived by nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at MOUNT OLIVE EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 930 E. Florida Avenue, Appleton, with Rev. Robert Raasch officiating. Entombment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Appleton. Friends may call directly at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Appleton Medical Center for their loving care. A memorial has been established in Bud's name.
