Regina Dorothy Klitzke

September 15, 1933 — September 2, 2018

Regina Dorothy Klitzke, of Appleton, Wisconsin died September 2, 2018, just 13 days shy of 85 wonderful years. Regina was surrounded by her family, rosary in her hands and love, humility and gentleness in her heart. She was born September 15, 1933 in Appleton to the late Henry and Hattie (Van Zummeren) Brier. Regina married the late Allen Klitzke in 1955 and followed him to Alaska where they lived for several years in the military. They moved back to Appleton, where they raised 6 children. A widow at a young age, Regina courageously supported her children while working in retail stores at Campbell’s and Shopko. She made friends wherever she worked and went. Once you were a friend of hers’ it was for life.

Regina loved watching and listening to baseball, mostly the Atlanta Braves and the Milwaukee Brewers. She worked on her crosswords and word search puzzles every day. It was a rare time if she left a blank or two. She walked daily to include 5,000 steps, even in the house, “keeps me going!!” She was a breast cancer survivor for many years and even though it returned, she never gave up, always hoped and put another step forward.

Regina is survived by her children, Vicki Grossmann, Karen Klitzke, Steve (Patti), Gary, David (Diane), and Brian (Cynthia Schoettler); 14 grand-children; 11 great-grandchildren; Many relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband and her parents, she is preceded in death by an older brother, Hank and son-in-law, Michael Grossmann.

A funeral liturgy will be held at 7 PM on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Wichmann-Fargo Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St., Appleton, WI 54911 by Deacon Jeff Hofacker. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 5-8 PM. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park.

A very heartfelt thank you to everyone who shared in Regina’s wonderful life; we have all been shown the gift of humility and grace. A special note of gratitude to the exceptional staff at Country Villa in Freedom, especially Tina, Gina and Sandra. Mom’s last months were surrounded with care, fun, laughter, good food and great friends.
