Raymond W. Schmidt

December 1, 1916 — October 13, 2001

Age 84, passed away on Saturday October 13, 2001 at Parkside Care Center in Little Chute. He was born on December 1, 1916 to Otto and Viola Schmidt in the town of Little Wolf, WI. Ray served with the Army in the Philippines during W.W.II and met Marie Van Sambeek while on furlough. They were married at Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Kimberly on June 29, 1946. Ray retired from Kimberly Clark in Kimberly after 32 years of service.

Ray is survived by his beloved wife, Marie; daughter, Mary (Rich) Piwko, Chicago; grand-daughter, Sara (Scot) Batteiger, great-granddaughter, Caitlin, Wheaton, IL; and foster-daughter Debbie (Fred) Gresbach, Phoenix, AZ. Ray is also survived by a special niece, Sandy (Robert) Chady, Exeland, WI; his sister, Eva Mae Helms, Randoph, NY; nephews, Harry (Vivian) Schmidt, Neenah; Rick Honey, Conn.; uncle Walter Schmidt, Waupaca; and Lena Brennstol, New London. He will also be missed by his brothers-in-law, Peter (Rita) Van Sambeek, John (Dee) Van Sambeek, Bill (Ione) Van Sambeek, Francis (Nancy) Van Sambeek, Thomas (Maria) Van Sambeek and sisters-in-law, Mickey (Rick) Gray, Rosemary Van Sambeek, Pat (Lester) Plutz, plus numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, a brother, Harold Schmidt and a brother-in-law, Joseph (Sam) Van Sambeek.

The funeral liturgy will be on Tuesday, October 16, 2001 at HOLY NAME CATHOLIC CHURCH, 600 E. Kimberly Avenue at 12:00 p..m. (Noon) with Fr. Dennis Bergsbaken officiating. Friends will be received on Monday, October 15, 2001 at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. There will also be a visitation on Tuesday at church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of liturgy. Interment will be at Holy Name Cemetery.
