Age 86, passed away in Appleton on Thursday, September 15, 2005. He was born in Little Chute on September 1, 1919, son of the late Louis and Mary (Verhagen) DeCoster. Dick served in the South Pacific in the United States Army during World War II. After the service he married Barbara Dercks in Little Chute on August 23, 1947. Dick's hobbies included reading, fishing and being an avid Packer fan.

Dick is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barb, children: Karen (James) Wilkinson of Appleton, Kay (Greg) Heindel of Waupaca, Jean (Brian) McMahon of Appleton; grandchildren: Jon McMahon and Aaron Wilkinson; sister, Marian DeCoster of Appleton; brothers-in-law: Nicholas and Joseph Dercks; sisters-in-law: Geri Truyman, Mary Jane (Bob) Hartjes, Christine DeCoster and Peggy DeCoster; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brothers: Clarence, Richard, Joseph, Lester, Robert and Chester DeCoster; and a sister, Lucina Miller.

The funeral liturgy will be at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2005, at ST. BERNADETTE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2331 E. Lourdes Dr., Appleton, with Fr. Don Zuleger officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the liturgy. The entombment will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park.

The family extends a special thank you to Clyde and Janet Douglas for their help and support.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Dick's name is being established.
