Age 84, died Monday, July 29, 2002. He was born September 3, 1917, to the late William and Bertha (Zeichert) Thieme, in Readfield, Wisconsin. Ray was a licensed funeral director and embalmer and was associated with the Wichmann Funeral Home and Crematory, of Appleton, for 35 years, until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Ev. Lutheran Church, Tucson, AZ, a charter member of the Town of Menasha Lions Club, he volunteered for many years at El Dorado Hospital, Tucson, AZ and was a former member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Appleton. Ray is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Max Campbell, Rochester, MN; a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Jesse Pinkley, Lafayette, LA; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phoebe Thieme, June 9, 1981, and two sisters, Irene Neumann and Ada Diedrich. A memorial service for Raymond will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, September 7, 2002, at the funeral home, with Reverend Ralph C. Waack officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Readfield, WI, next to his wife, Phoebe.
