Ralph R. Krause, age 84, of Appleton, died Sunday morning, July 2, 2006, at his home. He was born April 23, 1922, to the late Rudolph and Ella (Koske) Krause, in Oconto Falls and moved to Appleton as a young child. He served with the United States Army, 94th Infantry, during WW II. Ralph joined the Appleton Fire Department in 1947, retiring in 1984 as Assistant Fire Chief, after 37 years of service. He loved cooking for his family and fishing. Ralph was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, the Harvey Pierre VFW Post #2778 and the Oney Johnston – Edward Blessman American Legion Post #38, of Appleton.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Shirley M. (Piette) Krause, to whom he had been married for 55 years; eight children, Karen (Glenn) Turner, Austin, TX; Christine (Earle) Sherrod, Round Rock, TX; Ruth (Ronald) Biese, Weyauwega; Scott (Kris) Krause, Kenosha; LuAnn (Clair) Erb, Krakow; Lana (Jerry) Koepsel, Appleton; Mark (Cindy) Krause, Appleton; Tim (Kerri) Krause, Neenah; 12 grandchildren; a sister, Marian Hooyman, Westfield, WI. He was preceded in death by his younger brother, Hans.
Funeral services for Ralph will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, July 6, 2006, at FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 601 East Glendale Avenue, with Reverend Paul R. Brinkman officiating. Burial will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Church on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Memorial funds have been established for ThedaCare at Home Hospice, the American Lung Association and Faith Lutheran Radio Ministry.
