Phyllis J. Schultz

Phyllis Schultz, age 70, passed away at her home on Friday evening, October 14, 2011, following a lingering illness. Phyllis was born in Appleton on April 17, 1941, daughter of the late Edward and Verna (Plamann) Schroeder. She was a graduate of Appleton High School. For many years she was married to Albert Schultz. Many will remember Phyllis as having been employed at Lawrence University for thirty-five years as the Director of Operations for Admissions and Financial Aid. She was the first person to hold that position at Lawrence, and was instrumental in moving the Admissions Office into the computer age. Not having grown up with computers, Phyllis took the necessary computer classes to enable her to modernize the office. Phyllis was a lifelong and active member at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Aide. She was an avid fan of the Packers and Brewers, and loved reading, fishing, traveling, and playing sheepshead, but enjoyed even more the company of her dear grandchildren. They held a very special place in her heart.

Survivors include two children: Michael Schultz of Tucson, Arizona and Diane (Steve) Ahrens of Appleton, and their children Christopher and Isabella. Phyllis also has one sister: Ellen (Richard) Radley of Greenville, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Iris Schroeder and Betty (Emery) Eggenberger, and brothers Kenneth (Carole Buxton) Schroeder, Lawrence (Betty Jane) Schroeder, and Donald (Judith) Schroeder.

The Christian Funeral for Phyllis will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at ST. PAUL EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 302 North Morrison Street in Appleton, with Rev. Kenneth Frey officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again at the church on Thursday morning from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service.
